For instance, the unseen father of Nene (known in the dub as "Penny") was suggested to be physically abusive toward both his wife and daughter, and this was used as a source of black humor. New, previously non-existent backstories were created, as well as significantly different personalities for the characters. At least two episodes reference Rudy Giuliani and his unsuccessful bid for President. For example, in one scene, Ai and Penny argue over which one of them is Jessica Simpson (whose first album was not released until 1999) and which one is Ashlee Simpson (whose first album was not released until 2004), which is very different from the original Japanese script that dealt with many social issues within Japan at the time. Many sexual references, dark humor, and references to current popular American culture were added. Additionally, many characters had their names changed to American-sounding ones.

Similar to the Vitello dub, episodes of the series were dubbed out of their original order, and segments were reordered. Funimation's dub takes many liberties with the source material and was heavily Americanized. The Shin Chan (2006) that has been removed is a standalone westernized recreation done by Funimation.įunimation's version features a Texas-based cast of voice actors. There's Shin Chan (1992) and Crayon Shin Chan (1992) these are actual duplicates it appears. I can't even figure out how I should re-import it because there is an actual duplicate of the original show. Can it please be reinstated? The constant alarm in Sonarr due to it being missing is rather annoying. Funimation changed the content of the episodes to westernize the show and made it generally less kid friendly then the original from what it sounds like. The episodes don't seem to match up and the wiki page indicates that it's more of a recreation then just a standard dub. Well I've been trying to figure out what to do.
